Mission Statement

Haiti Education Center (HEC) is a charitable organization – non-profit organization founded in March 2010 in Fort Myers, Florida. HEC also has a central office located in Saint Louis du Nord, Haiti (northwest area of Haiti). Our mission is to provide quality computer/software education, training, and technology (internet) access to underprivileged students in secondary schools (9 to 12 graders) and young adults (example recent university/college graduates) in Saint Louis du Nord and other surrounding area in the northwest regions of Haiti, as well as in the US. The vision of the organization is to educate young Haitian across the nation in computer technology that would not have otherwise accessible to them. The benefit of this program is to alleviate computer literacy, create jobs, and reduce poverty in towns and villages of Haiti.

 Goals and Objectives

The goals and objectives of the organization are the following:

• Develop and teach computer courses such as Typewriting, Windows operating system, Word processing, Excel database, and Computer Aids Design;
• Provide basic software training and computer repair; and
• Provide computer technology (internet) access to conduct effective literature reviews and communicate within and outside Haiti.

 Approach and strategies

In order to meet the goal and objectives above, the following steps were planned:

 Computer Program Strategies

• Identify the effective computer courses and software that are appropriate for the target students
• Identify volunteers who can develop and teach the courses in the native Creole language
• Identify volunteers who can develop high quality video to present the materials covered in the courses
• Identify teachers assistant in Haiti that can assist the teachers to effectively deliver the materials to the student

Organization Strategies

• Form a board of directories to provide guidance and serve as stack holders to the organization
• Form an executive boards within the US to oversee the overall operation of the organization
• Form an executive boards within Haiti to oversee the daily operation of the organization, especially those activities that are based in Haiti
• Form a fund raising committee both in the US and Haiti to allocate sources of funding to support the operation of the organization
• Form various volunteer groups to administrate the diverse sectors of the organization

 Assessment of Resources

This section is designed to provide a strategic plan to protect the asset of the organization. The following are steps required to meet the expectations:

Money

• A plan was developed to secure all the money raised by the organization in the US
• A plan was developed to secure all the money raised by the organization in Haiti

Computer technologies

• A plan was developed to ensure that all the computers courses are not reproduced without any authorization of the organization
• All the courses developed and used by the organization are properties of the HEC
